If you’re seeing this and you didn’t signed up recently, you probably signed up on my website cindypotvin.com a few years ago, directly or to get my old “5 Hacks to Learn New Skills” course.
It’s a corny title, but in that case I think it’s appropriate.
Since I was last decently active on my blog, I had a child in the tail end of a pandemic (no hot vax summer for me while 6 month pregnant, unfortunately), had a year of maternity-leave-with-some-side-stuff and just left my full time job of 12 years to jump into the uncertain world of freelancing.
To top it off, the the world is entering an high inflation period, which I’ve never seen in my working life. I knew it was possible, but usually interest rates went down, not up!
So I figured now would be a good time to restart writing and share more with all of you. I intend to keep the newsletter about the digital economy, building SaaS and my freelancing life.
If anything in my newsletter resonates with you, don’t hesitate to reply to this email, or reach out on Twitter at @CindyPtn (my DMs are open) or on Mastodon at https://techhub.social/@cindyptn.
Side projects updates
I’m gearing up to sell handmade socks made on an antique machine. I’ll be doing a bigger writeup on the business itself, but for now I have an article about hosting the static site manibas.com quickly with Cloudflare Workers Site: https://cindypotvin.com/hosting-a-static-website-for-free-in-15-minutes-with-cloudflare-workers-sites/.
I’m also cooking and canning some delicious chicken broth as I’m writing this. It’s just really large pot full of water, chicken bones and a bag of carrots, celery and onion scraps. Totally worth it!
Feeling of the week
Let’s keep shipping this newsletter!
Ways I can help you
I have a slot to work on a short-term web application project starting in February. My main focus at the moment is frontend, but I can also help you with the backend. Reach out if you want to chat about your project!
I can write blog articles for you on technical subjects around web development and mobile development. I can also write about hobby-level Arduino, 3D printing and home automation subjects.
For my Canadian friends, it’s time to start thinking about purchasing seeds for your garden. I have a nano business selling seeds from my garden at https://sentiersperdus.net/en. Sorry, due to various phytosanitary concerns, it’s hard to ship those outside Canada.
