I review my goals a few times a year, but not to come up with new goals on the spot. It’s more of a way to get more clarity and clean up all the ideas bouncing in my head. Maybe roadmapping would be more appropriate? It’s like writing out a TODO list, but on a grander, multi year scale.
Also, now that I have more than 10 years of this behind me, this roadmap has a strange way of coming to life, even goals that were far-fetched and ambitious at the time, so I have to continue.
Sure, the classics that I put in to feel better about the whole thing such as exercising more did not really happen 😅, but the big life goals generally showed up many years in advance.
I like to include all kinds of life and hobby goal to keep it balanced and not just focus on money and career. With a fresh new business, those lines are getting blurrier, but I do still have some pure hobbies.
I usually sit down with a coffee and a few quiet hours to complete this. I’ll be doing it in the next few days, but I expect it will contain:
Growing my ecommerce ventures. It’s fun to build and ship a few products that are real, and not just typing stuff on a computer for money.
Get faster about making and shipping SaaS products. I’ve worked mostly on big projects in the past and I want to improve my “shipping quickly” stack.
Edible mushroom growing goals. I’ve been lowkey experimenting with this for the last few years, but I bought a small shelter and plan to grow a more significant amount.
More electronics and IoT projects. I have a few small projects in mind that could be good for small farms/homestead (or at the very least worth a few blog posts).
Side projects updates
I have published the first listing for my second Etsy shop dedicated to selling sock, which you can check out at https://manibassocks.etsy.com. I’ll be improving on the picture and adding a few more types of socks so it doesn’t look too empty in the next few weeks.
I also started kicking around a few ideas and specs for my SaaS idea about Etsy sales, and I got a copy of https://divjoy.com React starter kit so I can save some boilerplate setup.
Feeling of the week
The holidays are going well, no regrets…
Ways I can help you
I can write blog articles for you on technical subjects around web development and mobile development. I can also write about hobby-level Arduino, 3D printing and home automation subjects.
I’m now all setup to sell my handcranked wool socks on Etsy and my own site. Head to https://manibas.com for yours!
For my Canadian friends, it’s time to start thinking about purchasing seeds for your garden. I have a nano business selling seeds from my garden at https://sentiersperdus.net/en. Sorry, due to various phytosanitary concerns, it’s hard to ship those outside Canada.
